Bilingual K-3 classroomsOlive C Martin Elementary School houses district's bilingual program.
The purpose of the Transitional Bilingual Education Program is to provide support to non-English speaking students who have difficulty with written or spoken English. Students are identified for this EL support through the Home Language Survey and W-APT/ACCESS assessment. Kindergartners are also give Spanish LAS to measure Spanish language proficiency. |
CurriculumThe Transitional Bilingual Education Program provides instruction in the student’s native language. This support helps students succeed within all academic areas.
Students remain in the Transitional Bilingual Education Program for three years or until they reach proficiency in academic English as measured by the ACCESS Assessment. Language instruction follows the Language Allocation Plan The bilingual classrooms follow a curriculum adapted by the district, Wonders. Younger grades follow the Spanish edition titled, Maravillas. |
